1. Let us say you drive your car a lot each year. Let's say you drive your car 25,000 miles. This translates into about 900 hours of driving and idling time.
2. If you change your oil every 3000 miles, then you change your oil 8 times in a year. During the year you also have other service on your car such as rotating your tires, adding fluids and maybe having a tune-up done. You do this work on your vehicle because it prevents the car from breaking down.
3. So now, let's take a look at your furnace. Your furnace runs approximately 2600 hours during the average heating season. If we calculate the hours into miles your furnace runs 72,200 miles. Now, that's a lot of miles.
4. In addition the furnace blower, transformer, relays and electronics runs approximately an additional 700 hours during the cooling season. When this is added to the previous numbers it is like driving your car 90,000 miles.
