Why Maintenance is Important

Top 7 reasons:

1. If newer equipment --it keeps warranty intact

2. Keeps your family safe - helps prevent CO poisoning

3. Keeps your family safe - detects if conditions exist for CO poisoning (preventative)

4. Saves you money - untimely repair bills

5. Saves you money - a cleaning of furnace helps it run more efficiently

6. Saves you money - incorrect refrigerant levels in A/C could cost hundreds of extra dollars a year in cooling costs

7. Saves you money - cleaning outside A/C coil makes it run more efficiently

AT LEAST ONCE EACH YEAR...

WHY MAINTENANCE IS IMPORTANT

...YOUR CAR

1. Let us say you drive your car a lot each year. Let's say you drive your car 25,000 miles. This translates into about 900 hours of driving and idling time.

2. If you change your oil every 3000 miles, then you change your oil 8 times in a year. During the year you also have other service on your car such as rotating your tires, adding fluids and maybe having a tune-up done. You do this work on your vehicle because it prevents the car from breaking down.

3. So now, let's take a look at your furnace. Your furnace runs approximately 2600 hours during the average heating season. If we calculate the hours into miles your furnace runs 72,200 miles. Now, that's a lot of miles.

4. In addition the furnace blower, transformer, relays and electronics runs approximately an additional 700 hours during the cooling season. When this is added to the previous numbers it is like driving your car 90,000 miles.

5. Would you drive your car 90,000 miles without having any maintenance done?

LOOK AT THIS COMPARISON

These "miles" are based on only heating and air conditioning operation. These numbers would be higher if cooling hours were added to the furnace hours. After all, the furnace blower and electronics operate during both the heating and cooling season.

WOW!!

An air conditioner system gets very dirty during a typical season. In addition, the expansion and contraction of components over a season could cause the system to leak refrigerant or wires to become loose. It is not uncommon for operating costs to increase 25-40% during this time.

Have Energy Services provide you with the maintenance necessary to help keep your operating costs where they belong...LOW. Our Precision Maintenance Inspection and Cleaning covers a minimum of 37 steps for the furnace and over 32 steps for air conditioning maintenance. We do more for you than any other company. Note from Bob:

"In the late 1980's Energy Services was one of the first companies in the Chicago area to begin selling maintenance agreements to residential customers. At the time, about 9 out of every 10 service calls were because something had broken on a piece of equipment.

Today, 1 out of 10 service calls is because something broke on a piece of equipment (9 out of 10 calls are maintenance). One of the major reasons for repairs diminishing is because of my company tireless efforts to convince customers that maintenance is important.

Why is this important? Well, the average repair service call on a piece of equipment is $450, while maintenance is still under $120.

At times we test our competition to see how far they have come on this issue. A large number of our competitors still do not think maintenance is important. Maybe this is one of the reasons why 1/3 of HVAC contractors go out of business every year."
